Help Build Yokosuka Babywearing Mommas' Baby Carrier Library
Organized by: Kyle Parsons
Yokosuka Babywearing Mommas is a facebook group made up mostly of US military and military wives who live overseas. Here in Japan, most stores and restaurants are difficult (and sometimes impossible) to navigate with a stroller so carrying a baby with a baby carrier is extremely important. Not to mention, we are frequently managing at least one baby by ourselves during deployments. In order to get anything done around the house or go shopping for food, babywearing is very important.
We are a new group and trying to fund our baby carrier library, a stock of baby carriers that people can borrow for free. Baby carriers are expensive so people appreciate being able to try a baby carrier before they buy it. Being overseas, we mostly have to buy our baby carriers online (with the exception of Ergo baby carriers or DIY carriers) so it can also be helpful to be able to borrow a carrier while you wait for your own to arrive. We currently have an Ergo Sport, a Ring Sling, two Munchkin Slings, and an Onbuhimo (traditional style Japanese carrier). This is a good start but we need your help!
Here's a list of the baby carriers we need for our group:
a Moby wrap ($45)
Baby Ktans size xsmall to xlarge ($50 a piece)
Woven Wraps sizes 4-7 ($65-$75)
Ergo Original ($120)
plus shipping on all but the Ergo.
There are many other baby carriers we'd like as well but those are the ones that we have people interested in borrowing right now.
Our entire wishlist includes: (carriers range from $40 used to $150)
Baby Ktan sizes xsmall - xlarge
Woven Wraps sizes 2-7
