BENEFITING: Graves' Disease & Thyroid Foundation
For the month of November, my goal is to spread awareness for Grave's Disease and support the Grave's Disease and Thyroid Foundation.
In 2009, I made the decision to change my life and live a much healthier life - I joined a gym program to help lose weight, worked out 5-6 times a week, played multiple sports, and ended up losing 50+ lbs in the process.
Last year in May, my fiancee and I were training for the Seattle Rock 'n Roll Half Marathon and I noticed that my heart was beating abnormally fast. We were training on the I-90 bridge, I was dizzy and couldn't move my body.
After multiple doctor visits and blood tests, it was later confirmed that I had been diagnosed with Grave's disase, an autoimmune disorder that affects the thyroid gland.
Over the last year and half, I have gone through more medical procedures, doctor visits, and hospital stays than I have in my entire life. It's been a huge blow physically, mentally, and emotionally to both our lives'.
I'm lucky to have been blessed with supportive friends and family to get me through this difficult journey.
This month I decided that I'd like to help give back to the community.and match dollar for dollar every single like my Facebook page receives up to $500 dollars - at the end of the month (plus a few days since I started late) I will count up the likes and donate via CrowdRise.
How You Can Help:
Please don't be pressured to donate - I originally set out a goal to make the donation myself but many folks have asked me about other ways they can help with my cause. I also chose CrowdRise because they give receipts that can be used to ensure your donation is tax deductible.
I would be truly greatful if you can kick in a few bucks, or if you haven't done your yearly donation - please consider putting it towards my cause.
If money's tight right now, please make sure to "like" my page and spread the word out so it'll get me closer to my goal of 500.
Thank you all for taking the time to read our story and God Bless
