Has cancer touched your life? Do you want to help cancer patients everywhere?? Are you looking for a way to make a BIG difference? Do you have at least 26 friends?? If yes, I've got the perfect project for you to get involved in!!!
My mom passed away on 3/28/12 after a long battle with cancer. She got one miracle, beating cancer that metastasized into her bones in 1992, but lost her physical battle this time when cancer from her liver spread to her bones and lungs. She never lost her positive attitude, never let any of the cancer or its treatment dampen her spirit. She was brave and strong to the end.
I am running the Chicago Marathon in October for the American Cancer Society. So far, I have raised over $13,000, just in the last month. I want to bring in a big total for this amazing organization and need some help doing it. I need to be able to tap into the networks of other people to get additional donations.
I'll be creating my own Relay for Life team and the concept is this -- I get 26 people that are willing to ask their friends for donations. Each of my 26 people commit to getting 26 of their friends to donate $26. If everyone comes through, that totals $17,576 to add to my $13,000 + in donations already, for a grand total over $30,000!! How amazing would that be??
There will be some kind of relay event in Chicago... we'll take to a track where people on my relay will run or walk, maybe 26 laps on the track, and pass the baton to the next person. If you're not in Chicago, no worries, we'll figure that part out. I just need 19 more people that are willing to tap into their networks to get 26 people to donate $26. This is a cause that so many people believe in, it's a disease that so many people have been impacted by -- honestly, getting people to donate is so much easier than you think. A compelling story and a clear ask is all you need to get $26 from almost anyone. People want to give, they just need someone to ask. I want that someone to be you, so I can do this amazing thing to honor my mom and all the cancer patients out there.
