Our family has decided to be part of a missions team traveling to Nicaragua this July. We were so blessed to be a part of this team last year. It was a life changing experience for us and we are beyond thankful for the opportunity to go back and help again this year. We will continue with the work and support that we started last summer in the poverty stricken community of Villa Guadalupe & continue our support and building at Villa Esperanza. Your generous donations are such a huge part of this endeavor. You will be by equipping our team with the funds needed for tools and supplies needed to complete the work. The cost of the trip is $1700 per person and for a family like us, the costs are one of the obstacles. We are so very lucky and blessed for the family and friends like you and wanted to reach out for your help. The lives of these people are at a level of poverty that you could never even imagine. We ask that you open your hearts and hope you chose to help by making a donation. With your donation you will help make it possible to get the supplies, materials, man-power and medications to this desperate community. La Chureca was a severely poverty stricken community who’s daily lives were quite different from the lives we have here in the United States. This small community lived surrounded by a large garbage dump where families made a living combing the dump for valuable trash. Desperate and hungry families would sell their own young daughters, girls as young as 10, to garbage truck drivers in exchange for cash. Families lived in homes outside the dump in make shift shanties made of wood fragments and plastic bags. Three years ago, the 258 families of La Chureca were relocated by the government to a newly formed community know as Villa Guadalupe where our service mission will take place. Many families there are still struggling with health issues from exposure to landfill toxins and extreme, ongoing poverty. Our team will host a two-day free medical clinic for the community. Last summer we were able to examine and treat over 100 patients a day. We will also help to build the Life Skills Center we started last summer at Villa Esperanza. The Life Skills Center will be a place where the girls can learn skills they can use for work such as computer training, hair styling In the evening, we will be actively ministering and encouraging 30 young woman who have been rescued from a life of human trafficking who now reside at Villa Esperanza where we will be housed. Our team also plans to run a children’s bible school and sports camp, as the children comprise over 50% of this community. We hope you will make the decision to support our family on this mission. If you do, when we return, you will be provided with a special photo diary of what was accomplished and the faces of the families and children you so generously helped. Enclosed is a photo collage of some of the beautiful faces we were able to help last summer. We know what a difference we can make and want you to be a part of it. Please help us make this possible again. I have enclose a self addressed envelope for your convenience to mail your donations back to me and I will forward on to Shelter Rock Church. Please take a look at our Facebook page The Monroys Nicaragua Misson Trip for amazing photos and daily updates from our amazing journey last year and see what a difference you donations make. With Much Gratitude & Love, The Monroy Family
