Help kids go to camp
Organized by: Jacqueline Rogers
I am a parent of a child with Autism. Since he started school we tried to find activities for Elijah to do during the summer. This summer I was lucky to find F.R.I.E.N.D.S. summer camp. Both Elijah and his brother Noah attended the eight week summer camp. Elijah was able to go and participate in activities and socialize with other children and continue the structure that he normally lost while school is out. Although he was given funding from Easter Seals they weren't able to pay for the whole camp. A majority of the campers had the same issues. The camp struggled to remain operating because the camp didn't recieve enough funding and had to rely on local groups to allowed Elijah and other campers the ability to attend the camp the entire summer. I created this site so F.R.I.E.N.D.S can continue to offer Elijah and other children with special needs a fun during the summer regardless of the financial ability of caregivers to pay.
