Help Chris with Tuition
Organized by: Janice Maner-Wallace
Thanks for entering "HELP CHRIS WITH TUITION Page"
This is a year of celebration for Christopher Wallace, the middle child and first son of Janice and Dean Wallace. He has graduated from Calvert Hall College High School with a 3.2 G.P.A on May 31, 2014 and has decided to attend Lycoming College in Pennsylvania to major in education.
Chris was given the opportunity to attend Calvert Hall through sponsorship. Calvert High prepared Chris for college and gave him the passion for education to teach and prepare young people and give them the same excitement that he feels when learning a subject. Chris, who started out not particularly liking math, when he attended Calvert Hall, he began to love math and realized the power of a good teacher and wants to give back by majoring in education and making a difference in a young child’s life. Chris also loves to play basketball, which he has done since he was five years old and participated on various recreational teams. He was able to maintain good grades and give back through community services, above what was expected. Calvert Hall develops young men into people who have a respect for Christianity, an understanding for diversity and the desire to give back to the community. Christopher has developed into a fine young man who has decided to use his passion and enter into the field of education.
We need more African American Males to enter into the field of Education. As you know, education has always been a female dominated field and there continues to be a decline of African Americans males entering into education. Chris wants to make a difference and help other children to have a hunger to be educated. He is an athlete with a passion for education.
The tuition to attend Lycoming is $38,000.00. Chris has a partial scholarship that covers $14,000. The family is trying to raise funds to cover the remainder of the costs due to hardships the family has incurred due his father being laid off and unable to find a job for a year and a half. As you are aware, the cost of tuition has risen and now can cause a financial strain on the family. We want Christopher to be able to attend College without placing a large financial crunch on the Wallace household. Dean, Chris’s father was unemployed for over a year and they are trying to bounce back, so you may be able to understand the need for assistance with tuition. They do not want to hold Chris back from attending College because of their inability to pay tuition.
How can you help? We are looking for Individuals who want to sow into a young person’s life. It would truly be a blessing that we can send Chris off to college without him worrying about whether he would be able to stay. I want him to not worry about the financial aspects and focus on learning and attending his first year of college
So I am reaching out to you to ask for your help in cutting the tuition cost. This Campaign is to raise money to assist in reducing his tuition cost. I would like to raise a minimum of $6000. You can help through a donation and to spread the word to people you know, who care about making the difference in a young mans life. I do believe it takes a village to raise a family so I am asking the members of this village to assist me in helping the Wallace Family. No matter how small or large all donation amounts will be accepted.
Thank you for your support
