Help Chicago Teens See Hamilton!
Organized by: Gina Singer
One Month to Go!
September 12, 2016
EVENT DATE Oct 12, 2016
As a teacher, I feel obliged to expose teenagers to various artistic and cultural experiences, especially theatrical productions. I strive to engage my students' critical thinking skills and imaginations as they are awed by the magic of theater. One of the most compelling shows to recently hit the stage is the musical Hamilton. Composer and lyricist Lin-Manuel Miranda weaves together hip-hop, rap, and pop music to create a show that makes American history entirely accessible to teens. More importantly, he causes Hamilton and his contemporaries - complete with flaws, jealousies, and lapses in judgment - to "rise up" from the tattered pages of history with the wit, resourcefulness, and perseverance to overcome adversity. Teenagers need to see this story. Our trip is in October, but students are already buzzing with excitement. Each ticket costs $55, including fees. Additional money is required to cover food and transportation. Please help deserving Chicago Public School students secure 20 tickets for this life-affirming, life-altering theatrical event. Thank you so much for your kindness, consideration, and generosity!
