BENEFITING: ADVITA FUND USA
This project was setup to help children from the former Soviet Union who suffer from eye cancer and need financial assistance with surgical procedures and therapy abroad.
Initially setup as individual fundraiser helping a 1-year-old child from Uzbekistan, this project grew into a bigger cause and will expand in near future to fundraise for other eye diseases and disorders.
At this time however, all donations will continue to benefit Elyor. He and his mom travel to Germany every 3-4 months and need assistance with the bills. Your donation will be administered by Advita Fund USA, a US charity that handles logistics for us. They are volunteer-based organization and you can be sure that your amount will reach the child!
We include Elyor's story, as well as profiles of other children that we have been supporting:

Elyor B. was born in January 2012. He is from Uzbekistan. When Elyor was only 20 days old, his parents noticed white spots inside his pupils. They went to doctors who diagnosed Elyor with retinoblastoma in both eyes. Since retinoblastoma is not treated in Uzbekistan, Elyor's family began searching for options abroad and found a clinic in Essen in Germany. The total cost of treatment was estimated at 20,000 euros from which the family could only afford an air ticket to Germany and a short stay in a hotel. We helped them pay for surgery and later therapy.
Update from October 24, 2012:
Elyor finished six blocks of chemotherapy and went to his home Uzbekistan to recover. At the moment, it's unclear if he will need another therapy. Doctors want to see them back in Germany every 4 - 6 weeks for checkup. The overall time for recovery and checkup rounds may take up to 2 years. Each trip to Germany and outpatient treatment will be very costly. We will be assisting Elyor and his family throughout this period. Thank you for your continuous support!
Update from March 8, 2013:
On March 8, Elyor had a scheduled checkup with German doctors who found a new cancer growth, unfortunately. Elyor will need an urgent radiation therapy to stop cancer from spreading. His family needs to raise 17,000 euros fast to begin therapy on March 18. Please support them!
Update from August 13, 2013:
We continue assisting Elyor's family. We recently made a partial payment to the treating hospital in Germany to help them with the costs of treatment for the previously found lesions. In May, Elyor had radiation therapy to get lesions under control. He is now in Germany under doctors' eye.
Update from April 23, 2014:
Elyor has been traveling to Germany every 2-3 months for regular checkups. The family has exhausted all money and will be very appreciative for support. The last checkup showed no new cancer growth, however a developing cataract has been detected.
Update from July 3, 2014:
Elyor and his mom are travelling to Germany for examination.

Amir Sh. is a 4-year-old from Russia. He is another patient with the similar diagnosis. In 2011, Amir had a retinoblastoma surgery at the same clinic in Essen. Unfortunately, his right eye was removed but doctors were able to save Amir’s left eye. His mom works as a system administrator at education center for disabled children and earns about $250 a month, whereas each trip to Germany costs up to 3,500 euros. Amir's family needs to frequently travel to Germany to make sure the disease is not progressing. Thank you for supporting them!
