Helpers Unite: Fund a clothing drive for Syrian Refugees
Organized by: Susan Suard
Approximately 7 million Syrians have been internally displaced due to civil war and the spread of ISIL. 4 Million have fled the country, and over half of these refugees are under the age of 18. Approximately 20,000 refugees are currently stranded on the Greek island of Lesvos after crossing the Mediterranean Sea from Turkey, and the local community of Molyvos (a port city) desperately needs help providing basic supplies to the refugees as they wait to be registered.
Susan and Micah Suard are hosting a clothing drive along with their church City Life Fellowship and others in Santa Rosa, CA. This campaign's goal is to raise money to ship items donated directly to the community in Molyvos to be distributed to the refugees arriving on their shores every single day. All excess funds will be used to purchase and ship more items beyond what is donated. $80 covers the cost of shipping a large flat rate box. Our goal is to send 50 boxes. Together, we can absolutely make a difference to families in need and a community stretched beyond their means.
Thank you for joining with us as we do what we can to reach out and tangibly help those seeking safety in what the U.N. has deemed the "biggest humanitarian crisis of our era". When it seems like the world's problems are overwhelming and tragedy burdens our hearts, look to the helpers for hope. Or better yet, be one yourself.
