On January 12, 2010 Haiti experienced a catastrophic earthquake with a magnitude of 7. By the 24th, there were 52 aftershocks measured at 4.5 or greater. The Haitian government reports 230,000 people died, 300,000 injured and 1,000,000 left homeless. Also nearly 300,000 homes and buildings collapsed. Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere right now with no where to go but up!
Global Aid Network and Chase Oaks Chur...ch are partnering to send 14 volunteers to Haiti this March. Here we will minister in various areas in and around the community, including local churches, distributing aid to people in great need, vision clinics, and working on possible construction projects. We will also be spending time with the children and their schools.
The devestation has opened the door for a renewed spiritual awakening in establishing life changing opportunities for the people of Haiti.
I hope to come home and be an advocate for the voices that are not being heard. There is much to do here and not one person can do it all. We are currently still fundraising/accepting donations to help pay for the cost of travel and supplies. My goal is to raise more than the needed amount and help contribute the funds raised for long term help.
If you are interested in helping by making a donation please send me a message and I will send you the details on how to do this. All donations are made directly to the Church and you will receive tax receipts. Also you will receive a bracelet that is much like the ones we use to explain the power and grace of Jesus to help remember those in need and to pray for our safety.
Please keep the millions of volunteers around the world in your prayers as they serve.
If you have any questions please send me a message!
Thankyou so much!
