Every day I look for hope, a feeling of expectation and a desire for a certain thing to happen in this world. I look for love and compassion for others. In one day I found it in a family close to me that has touched me in a way that is unimaginable. On Wednesday, April 22, 2015, Lorraine Black (Gauthier) was diagnosed with Small-Cell lung cancer. And regardless of all the pain and all the pricks and pokes of the needles, she has faced it with a smile and a sense of humor that has given me a whole new outlook on life.
To see a family come together and face all odds through tragedy and sacrifice has opened my eyes to want to become someone who has a passion for love, hope and patience. I am asking for help for this family to see that medical bills and bills that will occur after the candle has burnt out on this beautiful, strong woman not become an issue in their lives. Her grandson Matthew Gauthier has spent countless hours and days giving all he has to see she feels comfort, peace and love and has put aside all his troubles and all his goals and plans, just to help her. We are all candles lite at the wick when born and sometimes things happen in our lives that blow our candle out and to see someone like Matthew continue to light peoples candles and keep them burning has given inspiration to everyone around him. Eventually the candle will cease to burn and there will be nothing left but a memory of what was. So, I am asking that if you can't donate you say a prayer for this extraordinary family and let them see the good in life and the hope even after the light has become dark.
Many things are possible for the person who has hope. Even more is possible for the person who has faith. And still more is possible for the person who knows how to love. But everything is possible for the person who practices all three virtues. Written by Brother Lawrence.
So this family should know what Winston Churchill said perfectly, "Never, Never, Never, Give Up."
