Help for my Nepali Friends in Dhading
Organized by: Leonie von Hausen
Update: Thank you to all who have already donated! We have been able to send a first sum to Dhading which has been used to provide tin plates for temporary shelter, rice bags, cooking oil and babyfood to about 43 affected families. We are now looking to rebuild earthquake safe homes for as many families as possible! The more you help, them more we will be able to reach! Thank you
As many of you already know, I have been adopted in 2011 as big sister "didi" by my close Nepali friend, Shaili, who has had the chance to study in Paris.
In Nepal there is a tradition of "adopting" a brother or a sister that you don't have naturally during a traditional brothers and sisters' ceremony and from that point you are welcomed and valued as a true family member of this Nepali family for a lifetime. Since I am an only child I was very happy to get a Nepali little sister and with her a wonderful Nepali family who has welcomed and pampered me as one of their own during my unforgettable trip to Nepal in 2011.
My Nepali family lives in Dhading District, in a village about 50km west of Kathmandu, which has been seriously affected by the earthquake on april 25th. The houses of several family members have collapsed and/or suffered severe damage which were the homes of Shaili's kid cousins and grandmother.
With this webpage I am reaching out to all of you to participate with a small, medium or large donation to the reconstruction efforts for their houses and affected lives. All the money collected will go directly from me to my Nepali friends without any detour or loss to unknown third parties over the next months/year.
If you want to make a real difference for earthquake affected families, this is a personal way to do it.

Shaili and myself and our Nepali family thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your solidarity!
