We always knew our town was a special place. However, no one knew how just how special until disaster struck at 10:37 a.m. on March 22nd. 41 people have been confirmed deceased, with an additional 2 people never recovered. Although many other fundraisers are in place, there's one group of brave men and women that still deserve a huge personal THANK YOU. The very nature of these heroes is to act without seeking praise. To them, what they did each and every day wasn't heroic, it was the obvious choice. It's up to the rest of us who know their names to be there for them after the equipment stops, now that the cameras have left town, and the silence grows.
These courageous and selfless community members risked their lives to help bring closure to the families affected by the slide, and many risked their jobs and livelihoods for the cause. They laced up their boots, threw on their Carhartts, grabbed their chainsaws, and went. They used their own supplies, trucks, fuel, missed work, etc., all without asking for a single thing in return. 100% of the funds donated to this page will go directly to these community members and their families. While we cannot erase the heart wrenching memories they'll no doubt carry with them for the rest of their lives, we can, in some small way, give thanks and provide a bit of light in the darkness. Even if we're only able to help them replace a few work shirts or buy them dinner, that's something. Donate if you can, and spread the word!
