Update: December 11, 2015
Hello Friends & Family,
We are again... blown away by your donations, prayers and great thoughts. We wanted to let you know that this afternoon is Chris' surgery. This medical team is FANTASTIC! We are nervous and at the same time relieved by how much these surgeons genuinely care. I will post an update once he is safe and in his hospital room. We are looking forward to closing this chapter and moving on to 2016 Healthier & Happier! Again, Thank you for all that you've done. We are FOREVER GRATEFUL! Hug your loved ones...Embrace this season of LOVE... you have already started by helping the harrods of NYC. We hope everyone is surrounded by love this Holiday Season!
All our Love...The Harrods
Update: November 9, 2015
We wanted to give you all a much overdue update on Chris's condition. As you may be aware, while Chris was being examined for the internal injuries he suffered in the automobile accident last June, the doctors discovered a mass in his neck. This tumor was malignant and Chris underwent surgery over the summer in Oklahoma to remove it. When he returned to New York for follow-up testing, his doctors discovered another mass on the other side. He will be having surgery in December to remove the second tumor and lymph nodes. The cancer surgeries and his lingering internal injuries from the accident, which include significant back issues, have left Chris with very limited capacity to work. As if that's not enough, Chris's health insurance company cancelled his policy on a technicality.
As you can imagine, the past few months have been excruciatingly difficult for the Harrods, physically, emotionally and financially. Chris, Cyndi, Dalton and Kellan are SO GRATEFUL for your generosity and the many kindnesses that they have received in the form of meals, doctor referrals, hugs and overall support.
But in the light of these overwhelmingly challenging recent developments, we are once again reaching out to ask if you could manage to once again Help the Harrods.
Hello Friends - As many of you know, Chris Harrod was in a serious car accident yesterday in New York City (6/14/15).
Thankfully, he is now at New York Presbyterian Hospital (Cornell) recovering from his injuries, but there is a long road ahead for Chris, Cyndi and their boys. These funds will be used to assist the family with medical and living expenses during Chris' recuperation. Thank you for your kind and generous support!
Update from Cyndi as of Tuesday, June 16, 2015:
I am doing my best to describe the LOVE and COMPASSION we have felt from all of you. We are completely BLOWN AWAY by your words, prayers, hugs and love! I was talking to the Insurance company yesterday morning and Dalton texted me and asked me if I had seen what Marcia Ciriello and Meredith Wollins-Paley (from our incredible SHUFFLES family) had set up on facebook...I did not know what he was talking about. He sent me the link and I had to sit down. I could not believe it. Harrod and I always love these campaigns and always try to help when we can. Now, we are that family. Just hours before I woke up from a nap and had a full on panic attack. I called my sister at 2:00am completely freaking out and trying to wrap my head around how we were going to make it. 9 hours later D sent that link. THANK YOU for all that can help us with the crowdrise campaign. We know that some can help with prayer and love and that is JUST AS IMPORTANT. We are humbled by your outreach. Here is our UPDATE: Chris has Fractured the L2 of his Spine. The surgeon said "If you are going to fracture your spine...the L2 is what you want to fracture" He walked yesterday and it was miraculous. He also damaged his ureter which is the tube from his kidneys to his bladder. After many tests we know that the kidneys were not severely damaged...his entire body is bruised and so are some organs. It will be a slow road ahead...understand we are grateful he is alive!!The lacerations on his face and ear will heal. He cannot walk alone or dress himself...he cannot get out of a chair...or sit up from lying down ...He needs assistance with everything. While they performed the head CT (which was clear) they found a mass 5.5 cm in his neck. This is is unrelated to the accident but found because of the accident. We are searching for a specialist to start this process and we are praying it is benign and can be dealt with. We can't lie we are still scared. We are stronger because of you. We have a LONG ROAD ahead of of us. We will find our new normal. Every time I read a text, Post, Prayer...Chris starts to cry. He loves to help others and it not used to receiving that help. We will have to teach him to be a great patient! Thank you doesn't seem enough. Thank you for sharing with your friends and asking for Prayer. It is working. We love you all. Love, The Harrods...Love
