BENEFITING: ST JOHNS EPISCOPAL CHURCH
How powerful is music? And what impact can it have on the lives of children and our community?
The Community Arts Program at St. John’s Episcopal offers underserved youth in New Braunfels and Comal school districts with a high quality after school programs in violin, keyboard and guitar music instruction along with a free after school tutoring session within a nurturing environment.
The mission is to empower elementary age at risk students to successfully develop their musical potential, be persistent in the pursuit of their education and to strengthen their communities.
Science tells us that children who take music lessons have a greater verbal working memory span, develop aural skills for spoken sounds and spoken words faster than non-musicians, and that even a little bit of music instruction can enhance reading skills.
Even more than that, a nurturing, loving place to go, study, play music, and have fun after school pays dividends to children and to society.
Help us continue to fund this wonderful program throughout the 2016-2017 school year.
