Reverse Cascade is a puppet production about the incredible journey of juggler and circus performer, Judy Finelli. This performance of movement and music tells the story of Judy's incredible talent, and the confusion and frustration that came from what was eventually diagnosed as multiple sclerosis.
Though this story is based on Judy's life, it is an allegory for the journey of so many people with chronic pain, neurological mysteries, and navigating the sometimes frustrating world of medicine while also trying to come to terms with changing one's own identity. It is a story of an artist who loses her tools, a risk taker who can no longer push through, and a fast moving person who is forced to slow down. And all of this is told without words, only music and objects. We can use puppetry and music to speak to audiences all over the world. The balls and scarves become a character you care for, whose pain somehow becomes your own.
And now we have been invited to share this story with a much bigger and broader audience, but we need your help.
Reverse Cascade has been performed in Baltimore and New England, and has now been invited to perform in New York, Turkey, and Detroit. We need to raise money to help pay for transportation and housing for three weekends in New York for our 7 person cast, and help pay for the costs of travelling to Turkey. All donations are handled by our fiscal sponsor The Tank, an incredible theater in New York City which will be presenting Reverse Cascade from February 26th to March 13th. This means your donations are not only a gift to open this show to more audiences, but are also tax deductible!
