Help Baton Rouge FLAIM Community Rebuild
Organized by: Rebecca Goodstein
Residents of Louisiana are dealing with the aftermath of a catastrophic storm that has dumped two feet of rain on their communities. The resulting flooding has killed 13 people, damaged at least 110,000 homes and displaced thousands. Twenty parishes across the state have been declared major disaster areas by the federal government, with more expected to be added as damage to the region is assessed.
In Baton Rouge, the community of families, students and faculty from Baton Rouge Foreign Language Academic Immersion Magnet elementary school (FLAIM) has been devastated. Please consider making a donation by clicking the orange button to the right to help the families and educators of the FLAIM school community. Any amount will help.
FLAIM elementary school is Baton Rouge's only public elementary foreign language immersion school. A majority of FLAIM’s staff is native French, Spanish or Mandarin speaking teachers who have no support system or family in the United States, and many of their homes have been destroyed, leaving families with nothing.
There is also need for donations of furniture, housewares, clothing and otherwise. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org if you have items to donate.
Merci. Gracias. 謝謝. Thank you.
