Helping Michael Beat Cancer

June 8th Update
June 08, 2016
Dear Friends and Family,
Many of you know that on April 25, 2016 Michael Burns was diagnosed with Stage 4a Thyroid Cancer. The doctor had withdrawn fluid from a cyst adjacent to his thyroid and found very elevated thyroid cells – which to him indicate cancer. On May 25, Michael will travel to University of Vermont, Burlington Medical Center to undergo surgery to remove the cyst, biopsy the thyroid to verify the cancer diagnosis, and ultimately remove the thyroid. The doctor indicated that once the thyroid and cancerous cells are removed, the prognosis is very good – thank God. Upon learning of the diagnosis, Michael and his wife Amy have spent countless hours researching appropriate foods, diet, and supplements to help the thyroid fight the cancer while awaiting the surgery.
Michael is a very hardworking husband and father of 8 young children, ages 7 months to 11 years old. Aside from his normal job as In House Carpenter at SUNY Potsdam, Michael normally takes on several contractor side jobs throughout the year. With the new challenges of fighting cancer, budgets are tighter than ever. This fund is intended to provide support in the following ways:
• Help offset out of pocket medical expenses, including travel
• Lost time at work
• Special diet needs, supplements and meds
Because Michael, Amy, and the children are so loved, many family and friends are asking how they can help and are offering funds to assist with the family's costs. We are setting up this fundraising page in response to those requests. We want to thank everyone for all of your love, support and especially your PRAYERS! We are very grateful for any financial support you can provide them at this time. Thank you all and God Bless you!
The Burns Family
