I teach... I teach 6th grade, I teach reading and writing, I teach organization, I teach compromise, responsibility, and hopefully passion, empathy, and independence- I even spend time on grammar! What's more challenging to teach, especially to 11 year old children, are empathy, compassion, and sacrifice. But that doesn't mean one doesn't try! Working with children in Middle School is like riding a roller coaster that doesn't stop! You get to witness the transformation from child to young adult and all the ups, downs, confusion, drama, excitement, tears, and laughter- -lots of laughter, that comes with this metamorphosis! One of the best rewards though is when you see children blossom from a "me" centered world to a truly active, compassionate, sensitive member of a larger world community- the place outside of the familiar bubble- that they have, until now, spent all their time in! Which is why I'm putting up this page. I'm trying to help my class reach farther than a bake sale ever could. My 6th grade students, from Brooklyn, are raising money for The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society! They want to raise this money to help families & children who may not be as fortunate or lucky as they are- fight this cruel and unfair diagnosis---cancer--- 100% of the money they raise will go to support research, medical treatment, and housing for families away from home receiving treatment among many, many other things. It only takes a minute to give but can change a life forever- thank you for taking the time to read this and hopefully, your donation- nothing is too small- from $1.00 to $1,000,000,000 they will be excited to know people care and want to fight with them! And, just to be clear, any amount in between the aforementioned is also greatly appreciated ;)
