The Information Center staff and volunteers are skilled at connecting area residents with government and non-profit organization services available to help them with the problems they are facing. But sometimes, we come across people with circumstances that “fall through the cracks.” Recently, a local man who had been unemployed for a very long time finally found a job through which he could support himself and his family. However, in order to start work that Monday, he needed steel toed work boots – and he had no money to buy them. After checking with many local charities, the man made his way to The Information Center, where staff was able to solve the problem, so he could start work. Helping Angels is a discretionary charitable fund of last resort, a place to turn when help is unavailable elsewhere. The Helping Angels Emergency Fund is 100% supported through public donations.
