My 6 year old son Anthony Pappalas has been diagnosed with Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma aka DIPG. It is a rare form of cancer that mostly strikes children between the ages of 5 and 9. With a very low survival rate, the news was a life-changing blow to Anthony, his parents, his brothers, and family and friends.
Anthony is a sweet, smart and empathetic young boy. He is full of energy and loves to play games with his brothers and cousins. He is Mr. iPad and loves challenging his mind by playing games on his pad. He is empathetic because he can always feel the pain in others and will do his best to help them any way he can. Anthony is set to start Kindergarten this summer.
We are fortunate to have medical insurance that will cover Anthony's treatment at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital in downtown Chicago. However, even with insurance the cost for Anthony's medical care will be substantial. I was urged by family and friends to start a fund raising page to raise money to help pay for Anthony's medical costs. 100% of the money raised here will go directly to pay for the bills incurred by Anthony's treatment.
Anthony is doing great so far and has barely changed his personality despite being through a lot these past weeks since diagnosis..... he is a tough kid. Any donation made here, no matter how large or small, will be appreciated from the bottom of my heart. Thank you!!!!!
PS. This fundraiser is tax free. You can't claim it on your taxes. Thanks for your understanding.
