Christians make up no more than 15% in Egypt. If you have been following the news, you are familiar with President Morsi finally stepping down. The violence in Egypt has reached it's peak after Muslim Brotherhood supporters, who are against Morsi stepping down, took their objections to the streets and their anger out on Christian churches, businesses, and homes. More than 50 churches have been burned to the ground, some that have been around since the 1940's. Dr. David Curry, the CEO of open doors USA said "They are a minority. There are people, when they have political problems, will lash out at any minority they perceive to be part of that, but the church is not an organized faction in this political situation. They’re just the victims in this circumstance.” 638 people were killed on August 14 alone, and more than 4,000 injured.
This Fundraiser is completely dedicated to helping those in Egypt who are victims of these recent attacks. All money raised will go to helping those who have lost their homes, jobs, and need help with means of living. Money will also go into helping rebuild the churches that were vandalized and/or burned down. We are blessed enough to have our freedom here in the US so we will do everything in our power to help our brothers and sisters who are fighting and dying for their freedom everyday. Please keep them in your prayers.
