As most of you may know by now Dakota started limping on one of her front legs a couple weeks ago. She was taken to see her vet the next day and we were told that they had not found anything through the X-rays. After being on pain meds for a day or two we started seeing improvement and assumed she was getting better...well we were wrong. Her hind legs starting failing her, she was not able to defecate without falling over on her side, she could no longer walk or sit without her legs giving out causing her to do a split. Dakota was miserable and there was nothing we could do to comfort her. I knew the X-ray was wrong at that point and called her vet once was the next day that we got the news. Dakota had been pre-diagnosed with IVDD, what our doctors would call a ruptured disk. At her visit I was told that paralysis was not too far behind if we did not get her into surgery within a couple days...I was devastated, how could I let Dakota down. So many questions were going through my head but the most important one "Is Dakota going to recover after surgery?" His response was not what I wanted to hear, he was not sure how to answer my question because her condition had become so severe in such a short time span. I called Ocean State immediately after walking out of her visit to schedule her appointment, not knowing if I would leave without my little girl. We went to Ocean State on Thursday and were able to bring Dakota home with us Sunday night. During her stay she had to undergo some intense medical all started with a Neurological Exam which led to an MRI. The MRI confirmed that a Disk had ruptured in her lower neck and indeed needed to have surgery in order to recover.
We understood that everything was going to cost a ton but not once did we think about walking away from her. Dakota is our baby and we would do anything to keep her healthy, unfortunately we do not have that kind of money. Neither of us like the idea of asking for money but we really do need your help. Any amount you can give, no matter how small, will be a huge help and very much so appreciated.

Thank you in advance!
