Helping Single Parents See A Brighter Tomorrow
Organized by: Stacy Martin
I am a single mother of 4 children, I know first hand how hard life can be. We struggle everyday with prayer and hope that life will be a little easier and better tomorrow. I am on 24 hour oxygen, and that doesn't matter to the utility companies. DTE has turned our service off. I went to DHS filled out all of the emergency paperwork, only to be turned down, and givin a few names and numbers of other agencies that WILL help. Key word being will. But I haven't received any help yet. I know I'm not the only person that goes through this vicious cycle of low income life. We as parents never chose to be single for 1, nor do we chose to be low income. I know we are suppose to stay strong, head held high, always seem happy all for our kids so they don't know what's going on. That can be 1 of the hardest things to do when we can't see any kind of light at the end of our tunnel. I know my story isn't the worst, their are families who don't have anything. I would love to start some type of group for single low- income parents, that way we would at least have each other. Most of us don't have family to call for any type of help. Pulling a group together we would never be alone, we could be each others family. My goal is to help others as I need help myself.
