Helping the Less Fortune
Organized by: Michael Borrero
People who know me will, somewhere along the line, describe as very generous. I'm generous with my time, as well as money. I know I have it pretty good. I am able to pay my bills and have a little extra to do other things such as pay for someone's breakfast, pay for someone's groceries, or help someone in need who has gotten behind in their bills or just down on their luck. Am I rich? No. Do I have to watch what I spend? Absolutely. But I'm whiling to go a little without to make a positive difference in someone else's life. Why do I do this? It's just who I am. I'm an Emergency Room Nurse and I have a gift. A gift of knowledge, caring, and compassion. Recently someone told me about an experience they had at a refugee camp in Lesbos Greece. It sounded like they really needed some additional help over there. You can read the news and see the pictures, things are in a crisis state. I've decided it is important for me to help. If I can help prevent one more child from dying, I've done my job. I have linked up with an NGO . I have been asked to go during the winter, February 16, 2016, when the sea are rough, the winds are strong, and the night temperatures fall near freezing. And remember rafts are arriving day and night. This is not going to be a vacation.
I'm using up my vacation time. packing up some bags. I'm really excited to go. In the process of preparing I realized I could use some help. this is not an easy thing to say, heck it wasn't even my idea to ask. I've spent a considerable amount of my own money and need to stop the bleeding. Equipment and medical supplies are not cheap. And I have to pay extra to ship all the supplies and donations collected. I could use your help. there, I've said it. Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated. No donation is too small. And you know what. This is only the beginning. I hope to be involved with more humanitarian efforts, domestic and abroad, in the future. I will keep you posted. Regardless of whether you donate or not. Thanks for taking the time read this. Michael
