help Inspiring Young Minds
Organized by: Lateala Terry
We believe that mindfulness has the potential to transform lives and communities. Over the last four years we have taught thousands of children, teenagers and young adults. Working in schools, colleges and prisons we seek to help young people cultivate self-awareness, resilience and kindness so that they can lead healthy and happy lives. Last year we began offering training courses for those that work with 7-11 year olds, to enable them to deliver our Kids Programme. This October also marks the launch of our One Year Programme offering an in-depth experience of mindful living and the facilitation skills to share our Mindfulness for Life programme for adults. WHAT WE’D LIKE TO DO We are now ready to expand our range of training courses for those that work with young people throughout the UK. These will enable participants to deliver structured programmes for Tots, Teens, Young Adults, and Young Offenders. We want to positively impact the lives of as many young people as we possibly can. Becoming a registered charity will help us achieve this. We believe the more young people who learn to become peaceful, kind and compassionate the more our society can become sane, healthy and happy. WHAT WE NEED We’ve achieved a great deal in the last four years without any funding or external support. However, lack of resources is restricting what we can do. In an ideal world we’d love to raise $20,000, but our target of $10,000 will already help us reach thousands more children, young people, and those who work with them. this money will enable us to: · Transition into a registered charity to ensure our long-term sustainability, so that we can reach those most in need. and · Complete the development of our Teens Programme, which will enable 12-16 year olds to develop a personal mindfulness practice. Any further amount would help us to: · Develop our 8-week Mindfulness for Life course including the production of a digital app with guided meditations. · Develop a 24-lesson Tots Programme for 5-7 year olds delivered using movement, play, stories and relaxation practices. · To invest in training up more Youth Mindfulness instructors, allowing us to offer our programmes more widely and frequently throughout the USA. · Organise a two-day experiential mindfulness conference in 2016, bringing together exciting youth mindfulness initiatives, international speakers and 300 - 500 individuals passionate about enhancing the wellbeing of young people and society. WHAT YOU CAN DO The largest challenge we have is reaching enough people. We know there are so many good causes asking for money, but the young are our future and we believe with mindfulness, society would be changed enormously for the better. If just 400 people were to provide a $50 donation we’d have enough to become a fully-fledged active charity and complete our teens programme! Please do help us by writing emails to your friends and family, asking them to donate or spread the word. Please post our campaign anywhere and everywhere you can – we don't have much time left to get to our target! THANK YOU We are so grateful to all of you for any support that you are able to offer and we hope that by transforming into a charity we’ll find more effective ways of involving you in our work, becoming a larger and more inclusive Youth Mindfulness family. GIFTS If you are non-USA resident, please consider giving an extra $10 on top of your donation amount to help us cover international postage costs if claiming a free gift. If you would not like to receive your free gift please let us know at the time of donation. While we are delighted to provide these gifts, by not receiving them, this saves us money that we can use for our work of touching the lives of young people in the USA.
