Help Jackson Get Vision Therapy
Organized by: Sarah Swearengen-Niner
EVENT DATE Mar 31, 2015
Jackson needs to complete a 12-day sensory learning program, followed by a 10-12 week round of vision therapy. He has amblyopia (lazy eye) in his left eye to the point that his vision is 20/400 in that eye (he can see the "E" at the top of the chart, and that is it). His right eye is nearly perfect. This distortion makes it very hard for him to see- try to imagine being near-sighted in one eye and far-sighted in the other. He has trouble with his depth perception as a result of all of this.
Jackson is a 5-year-old Kindergartener who LOVES to play baseball more than anything in the world. He plays on a t-ball team for the time being since he is still young, but playing for the school's team when he gets older will be completely out of the question. He is a natural athlete and it would be amazing to see what he can do with two eyes that work together. As his parents, we only want the best for him, and would do anything to make sure that he has everything he needs in this world. We wish we could afford to get him these therapies on our own, but the fact is, we can't. We want him to play ball, which is the only thing he ever talks about, but we just want him to be able to drive a car and do other daily tasks that so many of us take for granted.
The three girls that live in his home- his mom and 2 sisters- have agreed to all get blue and purple streaks in their hair once the money is raised and you know you want to see that!! (His twin brother said he will too, but we told him no!)
Thank you in advance. God Bless!!
