BENEFITING: Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee
As part of our family's celebration of Christmas, I told each of our kids that I was giving them $10 to give away to a cause they felt strongly about. We talked through what was import to each of them, and how they could not just give that $10, but they could use it to invest somehow, and they could raise awareness, and ask others to help them grow their impact. They were to do a little research, and to think through how they could make a difference.
Jackson is 9, and in 4th grade. Ever since he has expressed a preference, he has been in love with elephants. "I feel like elephants in the circus are treated badly, and that they should have a better home. They get hurt, and I don't like it. Elephants are my favorite animal. I love everything about them. I love their size, and their trunks. I love that they are tougher than lions."
There is an Elephant Sanctuary an hour and a half from our house, and Jackson heard about it at a booth at an Oktoberfest celebration a few years ago. His grandad bought him a calendar, and he loved it! He is sad you cannot go and actually visit the animals there, but loves the idea of it even existing.
He would like to raise enough money to "adopt" an elephant, as well as to provide several days of food for her, and possibly contribute to her endowment! Thank you so much for helping provide a safe and beautiful place for these amazing creatures.
