LA’s Promise is a non-profit organization dedicated to preparing every student in South Los Angeles to be college and career-ready, healthy and successful in life. In partnership with LAUSD, LA’s Promise operates schools in South LA to better serve students and families who live in an underserved area with some of the highest crime and lowest educational attainment rates in Los Angeles.
Summer school in particular not only keeps students in a safe, constructive learning environment, but it also gives students the opportunity to make up classes which they have failed but are necessary to stay on track toward graduation. Years of budget cuts have presented limited summer school opportunities, and LA’s Promise wants to help restore summer school at West Adams Prep.
Funding for summer school would support an innovative model of online instruction combined with traditional instruction for 200 junior and senior students taught by four teachers. This summer school program will feature classes and credit recovery in English, Math, Social Studies and Science.
Please support our effort to continue summer school programming at West Adams Prep and help 200 South L.A. students stay on track to graduate. If you have specific questions about summer instruction at West Adams Prep or at additional LA’s Promise schools, please contact Liliana Vasquez, Director of Operations, firstname.lastname@example.org.
LA’s Promise is working to radically improve the education, health and social outcomes for thousands of youth in one South Los Angeles community. Together with teachers, parents and community partners, we will prepare every child in LA’s promise Neighborhood to be college and career-ready, healthy and successful in life.
