Help Launch Parents in Partnership
Organized by: Shree Chauhan
My Dear Friends, Family and Colleagues,
Thank you for visiting my fundraising page to launch Parents in Partnership.
As many of you know, I have worked in education for the last decade, fighting for an equal and excellent education for all children, in the classroom, in Congress, in the U.S. Department of Education and most recently with a legacy civil rights organization.
My personal and professional experiences have led me to the conclusion that in order dismantle the inequities that plague our education system, we must empower parents and families. Parents and families are the constant throughout their children's educational journey — yet, they are often kept in the dark about their children's academic progress and are often unaware of how to best support them at home. I am launching Parents in Partnership (PiP) to tackle this issue head on and I could use your help to get started.
For the past four years, I have worked to develop PiP. Because I know that by empowering parents and families, we can transform education so that every child receives an excellent education.
Your support is the beginning of a nationwide movement. The funds you provide will support the following:
1) A 5-week home-visiting pilot program for 10 low-income parents whose children attend some of the lowest performing schools in the District of Columbia--and arguably the nation as a whole.
2) The launch of the website ParentsinPartnership.org to help inform the public and potential funders about our successful model.
3) The fees required to become a legally-recognized nonprofit organization.
With your support, Parents in Partnership can officially launch!
