Team Leslie-Young Widow & Amputee Fighting Colon Cancer
Organized by: Christine Cupina
Leslie was born with Spina Bifida and has lived most of her life in and out of a wheelchair or using a walker.
In March 2013 Leslie lost her sister to Ovarian Cancer.
In August 2013 Leslie was diagnosed with Stage IV Colon Cancer.
In February 2014 her husband of less than two years had a massive heart attack and passed away after several weeks in a coma.
On May 17, 2014, Leslie had to have her left leg amputated just below the knee due to a MRSA infection.
Leslie is living with her father in San Antonio TX who is 73 and struggles with emphysema. They are taking care of each other the best they can. Leslie is a devoted Christian and her strong faith keeps her moving forward.
Leslie has a very hard road ahead of her but she is determined to beat Colon Cancer and learn how to walk with a prosthesis so she can be more independent.
Leslie's family and friends are reaching out and asking for your help. Leslie has insurance through her employer but her deductibles, co-pays and out-of-pocket medical expenses are overwhelming. Unfortunately, her husband’s life insurance policy did not cover all of his hospital bills and she can not afford to pay them, this too is weighing heavy on her mind. Leslie needs to focus on her chemo treatments and learning how to live as an amputee. Your donations are greatly appreciated, no amount is too small, we are grateful for every penny! Please keep Leslie in your prayers and we thank you for your support!
