BENEFITING: CAMP ARANUTIQ
Camp Aranu'tiq is a weeklong, overnight summer camp for transgender and gender-variant youth ages 8 through 15. The camp relies solely on private funding for space, food and supplies, and to financially support many of the kids who cannot afford to pay for the camp experience.
"I have to tell you, [my child] has been so wonderful since we picked her up from camp. She seems so much more at peace with herself and she has a great attitude..."
"[My child] can't stop talking about camp. He had such a wonderful week; perhaps one of the best of his life. It feels like I picked up a different kid!"
These are just a few of the quotes from parents of our 2011 campers. From the perspective of a camp counselor, Camp Aranu'tiq is amazing - words do not do the experience justice. Seeing so many children (around 90+ in 2012) connect, grow, explore, and simply "be" and/or "become" themselves in such a short period of time is incredibly powerful. Rarely do human beings get to witness, foster and celebrate such pure authenticity in others. The three back-to-back seasons I spent volunteering with camp are the most transformative experiences I have ever had in my life. Without a doubt, this camp changes the lives of the campers and staff, and will continue to do so year after year.
In 2012, Camp Aranu'tiq opened its west coast location! We served many more kids this past year, and the numbers will continue to grow. We need more space, more food, and more supplies! Show your support by donating to this amazing, life-changing experience.
