Marti Barclay's Kidney Transplant!
Organized by: Brianna Martin
March 30, 2016
Marti is like a burst of sunshine. Her positive attitude and love for life are matched only by her sheer determination.
At the age of sixteen Marti was diagnosed with autoimmune hepatitis and told she might not live beyond 18. In 2015, Marti will celebrate 10 years of life since her initial live-donor liver & kidney transplant, and she has now made it past 30! While we joyfully celebrate this milestone, the reality is that the function of her transplanted kidney is declining and her liver has been struggeling with rejection. There is another transplant on the horizon.
If you only knew Marti casually, or happened to pass her on the street, you would never guess she fights a daily battle against chronic illness. You'd never guess the hours, and days, and weeks she's had to miss work due to sickness, nor the fact that ER visits and hospital stays are a regular part of her life. You'd never imagine the buffet of pills she takes each morning and night to keep her body in check or the stress of making ends meet when she's too sick to work.
This page was created to give practical encouragement and support to Marti in this "in between time". Giving through this site is linked directly to the Marti Barclay Transplant Fund and funds go directly to Marti.
Contributions will help Marti keep taking steps closer to her next transplant, and help her focus on her health instead of the anxiety that comes from medical bills.
Let’s help her thrive!
