Help Max (3 years) beat leukemia!
Max was diagnosed with a rare form of childhood leukemia in late-October 2015, and with that, our lives changed dramatically. After receiving world-class medical care for six weeks at Boston Children's Hospital, he was finally able to go home and be re-united with his beloved family (especially his 4-year-old sister). :) He is now in remission, but his chemotherapy treatment will continue for the next two years.
During this time, Max is treated at home, at the Jimmy Fund clinic and in the hospital, depending on the phase of treatment he is in, and depending on the side-effects he experiences and his response to treatment. We, his parents, are taking turns to take (unpaid) time off from work as needed, to be with him during his appointments and unpredictable and inevitable stays in the hospital. We are fortunate to have good medical health insurance coverage that will pay most of this astronomically expensive treatment regimen, which is tailor-made to cure Max. But there are still co-pays, deductibles and other indirect expenses related to Max's illness that will make a huge dent in our budget for the next two years -- especially given our limited bandwidth to work and earn money outside the home during this time.
We are enormously thankful for the life-saving miracles of medicine and science that will help Max win his battle against cancer. But at the same time, we are worried about our finances.
It is not easy to realize that we can't do this entirely on our own. And it is not easy to ask for help from the community either. But we know some of our friends, co-workers, acquaintances, and even compassionate strangers have been asking for practical ways to help. This is definitely one of them.
Any support is much appreciated. No donation is insignificant. We sincerely thank you for your gift.
Thank you for helping Max and us, his family, get through this tough time in our lives. We can do this together!
