Help me drive safely
Organized by: brook rouillard
I was hurt at work back in September 2014, I need shoulder surgery for a slap tear. After that recovery I needed a second surgery for bicep tendinitis, during the second surgery, the anesthesiologist dug around in my neck for over 30 min trying to place a block. Unsuccessful he gave up. After waking up, I knew something was wrong. He had severely damaged my lower brachel plexus . I have spent months with doctors, therapists, and specialists, nobody know what to do with me. We are in the process of getting into Mayo clinic, but still waiting. I have no movement or grasp in my right hand, no feeling from the elbow down. I am struggling with work Comp to get me a car I can Drive safely, however that doesn't seem to be happening. I need a car I can turn on with out weaving my hand through the steering wheel. One I can shift gears without putting so much pressure on my left shoulder, as I am over compensating for no use of the right shoulder. I need a automatic lift gate for the back, automatic doors, back up camera, as cranking my neck around causes daily headaches. I want to feel safe when I'm driving to all my appointments, as I take my kids where they need to go. My doctors have agreed that I need a vehicle that can accommodate my one hand life... But I need help. This has greatly affected my life and the life of my family. I'm not the type of person to ask for help, but I'm losing faith in myself and my ability to be whole again. Everyday I get in my car and struggle, its a reminder I am broken. Thank you for listening to my story. All my love, Brook.
