Help Me Help My Penpal
Organized by: Robert King, Jr.
Hi, my name is Elizabeth and I have a birthday wish. I would like to help a family in New Town, Ghana. When I was 6 years old I sent an Operation Christmas Child Shoebox and I put my picture and address in it. The shoebox was given to a little 3 year old girl named Marcia and her family wrote me back. Over the past 9 years, my family and her family have become very close to the point that we communicate by phone often. My parents have been providing funds to help Marcia and her sisters' education. The family recently was forced to move and found housing in an area were employment is low. The mother, Pearl, is a fantastic seamstress. The father, Israel, wanted to build a shop to sell local produce and to sell his wife's crafts. My parents began helping them financially build the shop, but due to the inflation and the family being turned down for a loan, Israel and his wife are left with a half built shop and no funds to finish. They are in need of $12,000 to finish the project. I would appreciate any money you could send me to give to this family to help them with the funds to finish the project. Any money over the need would be used by the family to help fund all four of the children's education. I will be glad to keep you updated on their progress and send a picture of the finished shop.
