Devastating news about my beloved village in Nepal.
Laxman Moktan, a very dear friend of mine who lives in Kathmandu finally could send me this email:
"Dear Friend Santosha Katrin,
Eventually, I had contact with my family. They are okay besides many injuries. There were casualties of 2 kids. Most of our houses are devastated including Cattle, farmland and animals from the whole village. People are under tents and out of communication and electricity. Only one person's cell phone left with charge and he was the one who was updating to others. No rescue team has arrived yet, I myself too couldn't go there. It's been raining and I couldn't travel anywhere.. too dangerous.
Two close relatives were casualties, my Aunt (my mother's younger sister, you met her if you still remember) and my Father-in-law (Soniya's Dad) who lives different villages near us. You have been supporting us before, and we need your support in this situation too, we believe and we are hoping for any supports you can do for us.
Thank you very much....Laxman and Family"
These recent events are so heartbreaking and tragic that I feel I urge to find a way to help my people!
PLEASE HELP us with your financial contribution. It will go DIRECTLY to assist those devastated by this earthquake: providing shelter, medical care, food, blankets and other urgent needs as well as aid in rebuilding houses, schools, farmland, livestock etc.. etc..
I am German and live in the San Rafael, California, USA. Having done extensive travel to Nepal, trekked and hiked, met culture and people and fell in love with all!
Personally, I feel very connected with this village (always referring it to "my village") having spent a wonderful time a couple years ago with the "Moktan Family" who so graciously shared their home with me and touched my heart.
My hope is that if we join forces we CAN make a difference and help these very impoverished and hard hit by tragedy people to get up on their feet again and live a decent life.
I thank you from the bottom of my heart for any contribution. BTW.. No contribution is too big or too small.
P.S. Should you have any questions please don't hesitate to call me: 415-258-9111, or email: email@example.com!
