Help Michael Build his Bunny Farm
Organized by: Will Brewer
4 years ago my son started having noticeable problems in school and in social situations. We struggled for over a year having different Dr's looking over him until we finally got the diagnosis that He had Autism. We were frightened but worked with his Dr to make his life and struggles as easy as we could. Its been a journey and the one thing that My son has been consistent on is his Love of Bunnies. We took him to a library event one day and he got to hold a small bunny. He was so calm even as the place became chaotic and filled with screaming kids and babies. He adores rabbits, and so we made the decision to buy him a pet Rabbit. This Rabbit has been his friend in every way. He talks and uses the rabbit as his way of coping. He has an obsession with Rabbits, he has tons of stuffed bunnies and rabbits and even builds replicas of them in Minecraft (another obsession). But what he has always wanted is for us to have a farm to raise Rabbits. Unfortunately we live in an apartment and we have been unable to bring his dream to reality. We just do not have room for more than 1 bunny. However if we can get the funds and help we could get a small farm that would allow him to raise his bunnies. He is a great kid and really deserves to see some dream of his come true, and any help to get this dream off the ground will be great. We plan on making this a Green farm, that is as much off the grid as possible, with most if not all electricity provided by solar and wind power. We also have designs grow the food that is needed for the Rabbits as well. The Rabbits will be raised and cared for by Michael and its our hope to make these Rabbits available to children with special needs and sensory problems like Michael. Rabbits are extremely clean and being so passive they make great tools to help children because they are soft and non violent and do not make loud noises. They do have claws but with proper grooming those can be kept in check. Children like Michael with sensory problems and social anxiety really do not have the help they need. Our goal is to use these Rabbits to help Michael overcome some of his Social anxieties and with help from them and the constant work it takes to take care of multiple Rabbits, It is our hope that he will be able to function in society as he gets older.
