BENEFITING: BEAR TRUST INTERNATIONAL
We believe that effective wild bear conservation is based on sound science.
We also believe that kids everywhere deserve high quality STEM (Science Technology Engineering Math) education.
We know that kids love bears. So, why not combine bear conservation, field science, and STEM education into an exciting program?
Oh! And let’s provide all education materials FREE for educators and youth.
While we’re at it, why not use STEM content from the lessons to create continuing education courses and workshops for our teachers?
That’s what Bear Trust does. For our STEM education programs, students become the scientists as they use real-world data from bear studies to answer scientific questions that have implications for real world conservation. Students get to learn neat stuff about ecology and conservation, while simultaneously honing critical science and math skills. What better way to raise conservation awareness about our amazing 8 bear species, 6 of which are endangered or vulnerable?
Like this Moon Bear who lives in Taiwan. She and all Moon Bears are listed as Threatened under the IUCN. The Moon Bear lesson we are creating includes real GPS locations collected from wild Moon Bears in Taiwan. Kids use these GPS points to estimate home ranges and learn about conservation issues affecting Moon Bears.
Help us help this Moon Bear, and let's provide awesome opportunities for our kids along the way! Thank you!
