BENEFITING: CLAWS INC
CLAWS was founded in 2004 and since has helped rehabilitate, rescue and educate all over the Triangle. The area of work for this organization covers 5 counties and helps rehabilitate hundreds of animals each year. Additionally, they help educate the public about wild animals in the area .
CLAWS is currently run out of the home of their Executive Director, Kindra Mammone, and is in need of additional space. There are several permanent residents that require larger housing than is available on the current property and the need for new rehabilitation areas is persistent.
Unfortunately, the need for additional land space is such that CLAWS had to relocate their three otters this year. The space they have is just not consistent with what they feel would be fair for these wonderful animals and were fortunate enough to find them great new homes.
What CLAWS would like to do with the money donated is create a facility where the public can come and learn about wildlife rehabilitation and the various educational animals and permanent residents of CLAWS. Their goals include building a large, permanent home for Kidden (the bobcat) and their other long-term residents, building rehabilitation enclosures like flight cages and other structures for animals that are able to be re-introduced back into their native environments.
