BENEFITING: Nashville Cat Rescue
The man who found her called Nashville Cat Rescue and said please help her. She "still has life in her eyes." We told him there were definitely some big hurdles here and we were not sure she would make it or if the wound was even " fixable." We said we will take her and do everything we can. He said "she is a fighter, I just know it" and he was right! Nancy made it through last night which was critical with the amount of infection in her system and her already weak state. Nancy has tested negative for FIV/FeLV, been started on high dose antibiotics and pain medicine, treated for the maggots, had round the clock wound care, one surgery to remove the dead tissue and deeply clean the wound. She is eating like a horse and just as sweet as they come. She has at least 5 more days in the hospital, another surgery on the wound and then we can get to the basic stuff like her spay. Barring any unforeseen complications-this little fighter will come out of this with some severe scars and one ear, but a happy otherwise health kitty that will make someone a wonderful companion.
Our best guess is that Nancy had crawled into a car engine and was thrown through the fan belt but it is just impossible to know what exactly caused these awful injuries.
Nashville Cat Rescue tries to take on the cases that would not be given a chance elsewhere. Please donate towards Nancy's care and help us help more kitties that don't stand a chance without NCR and our supporters.
We will not post any of the graphic images of the wound publicly. However, you are welcome to email Megan@NashvillleCatRescue.Org and we will provide you with pics of her and the wound as it is healing.
