Help our Mom Battle Cancer Costs

Our mom has been there for us and has sacrificed so much to make sure that we get what we need and sometimes things we really want. She doesn't get herself things, even stuff she needs so that we have more opportunities & have the tools we need to make good decisions in our lives.
She's always been our educational advocate, making learning a top priority and helping us to succeed. We owe her so much for being there and the idea of her not being with us is not acceptable.

She's a big heart and even when we had difficult times, she would still seek out others to help that were worse off than we were. If someone needed help, she was there offering her time, skills and heart to do what she could. She's a good writer and has been working on putting her stories together to have published.

But now since her BMX surgery, she's been fatigued, sore and in pain. Her health wasn't good before the cancer, now things are even harder for her. She was trying to gain some of her mobility back before surgery, but now has lost most of the gains that she had post surgery. Plus the doctor has said that she needs another surgery to get cancer that was missed removed. We don't know how she can go through another operation now, when she is still healing & not doing well emotionally.

After surgery, there is still the chance of chemo and possible hormonal treatments. Another option is surgery to remove her ovaries. But all this takes lots of money and we don't know what or how much the insurance will pay. With Mom's health not good, chemo isn't even an option till her blood work shows some improvement.

Since Mom only gets an SSI check each month, we've been trying to find work. So far we've not had any luck, plus someone has to be home to care for her and our younger brother. We've had to rely on other family to help out some, but now it's even more difficult without some kind of help to carry us through this. I can't believe the cost of some of the treatments, it's heartbreaking that they can get away charging so much for medicine that helps people survive.

We don't want to loose our mother due to lack of funds to pay for her care. We don't want to fail her when she's tried so hard to be a good mother for so many years. She's wound up getting adopted by many of our friends over the years too. They think of her as their mom too. We want to keep her with us, to help improve her health, help her to fight this cancer and not have her stress about the bills.

Since we're new at this sort of thing, if you can suggest things that can help us raise money for her, please let us know. All we have to offer is a true story she wrote some years ago. It happened when she was a teen and to help deal with it, she wrote down what happened that day. I think it's a great story, plus it shows just how caring and selfless she has always been. She's always put others before herself and now she needs to put herself first... something she's not used to doing.
Here's the link to the story...
I hope that you enjoy it. It isn't her best sample, but it's straight from the heart. I always wondered what happened to those three girls. I wonder if they ever realized how lucky they were.

Please help in any way that you can. Send positive thoughts, offer a supportive note or offer a few dollars if you are able. It all helps with the healing and she needs to know she's not alone in this fight. Thank you very much for your time, understanding and compassion.
