For those of you that might not know what I do I am an ESL teacher in Corona, NY. I learned that one of my students, Henry, went home on the Friday afternoon before MLK Day only to learn that his apartment had burned down. They were able to salvage some clothes but most of the items were destroyed due to water damage. Henry was also my student last year and has excelled in learning the English language and is just a great kid. Tragic things like this happen everyday. I want to show Henry that great things can also happen on any given day. I want to show him that good things happen to good people and that in times of need people come together to help each other out.
I am asking that for my 32nd birthday that you help out Henry and his mother with donation. I would like to give Henry the gift of companionship and community. I want to give Henry this gift not to say that money can solve their problems but that people care about other people and are there during their times of need.
I am asking for $32 as a gift for my birthday to help out Henry in his time of need. If you are not able to give $32, any amount helps to send the gift of community to show a great young man that people help people when they need it most.
