Help Rebuild Nepal and Support Displaced Lives
Organized by: Sworupa Khadka
As most of you know, Nepal is facing the toughest time in its history. The country was hit by multiple over 7 magnitude earthquake and ongoing aftershocks- leaving more than 8000 dead, 22,000 injured and half a million people internally displaced. While my family and friends are safe, it's heartbreaking to see others who lost everything, villages flattened and several world heritage sites destroyed. Nepal might never be the same again and it will take a lot of time, effort and money to rebuild. Despite the trauma, Nepalese people have stayed strong. While huge amount of relief efforts have been sent to Nepal through big donor agencies, most of the them have been focused in urban centers. Most of Nepal's population live in remote villages which are diffcult to be accesses in the best conditions and still in immediate and critical need for the basics - food, water, sanitation, medication, emergency shelters among others. It's been very touching to see people being concerned about my family, friends and my nation - reaching out to me on how to help.
I am coordinating with the local charity organizations - Bibeksheel Nepali and Sarvodaya with on the ground volunteers. They have been assessing the local need and resources. The fund will be channeled through a registered 501(c)3 charity in the U.S. and donations are eligible for corporate matching and tax deduction. Every penny raised here will be used to buy and provide victims with the following - tents, tin sheets/supplies to build temp shelter, medication and food. EverythingCounts!!
PRAY FOR NEPAL!! WE WILL RISE AGAIN!!!
