The goal of this fundraiser is to help Sami’s family rebuild their home.
On August 24th, and under heavy bombardments in the middle of the night, Sami’s family received the much dreaded (and courteous?!) “knock on the roof” bomb, whereby the Israeli warplanes drop a mini stun bomb to warn that they’re about to bomb the targetted house within minutes.
Due to the loud explosions already in the neighborhood, it was hard to tell whether “the knock” was on the family's roof or on their neighbour's. But once one of the neighbors realized it was on the house of Sami's family, he started shouting from the outside to warn them to evacuate the house. Immediately, the family started running away carrying with them absolutely nothing but the clothes they were wearing, leaving behind years of memories, hopes and dreams.
And within less than 5 minutes, *BOOM*…*BOOM* …*BOOM*…*BOOM*. Four bombs were dropped on the house reducing it to rubbles.
Thankfully, the family miraculously survived without sustaining any physical injuries, but the emotional and mental scares are there for life. They’re now homeless in every sense of the word. Their home has been completely destroyed. Most of their belongings remain in the street.
But the truth is, the tragedy of Sami's family is one of many countless human tragedies in Gaza, where many have lost their loved ones. This fund will help them get started until hopefully more funds from the UN and other organizations start flowing into Gaza. Let us rebuild Gaza one house at a time!
Thank you very much for your support and your contributions. Every donation that you make would make a huge difference!
THIS IS NOT A POLITICAL INITIATIVE. It is simply a way of reaching across borders with what happens to be the only real means of making a difference for us non-decision makers in the situation.
