Help Refugees in Chemnitz
Organized by: Brenna Yellin
As many of you may know, Germany is seeing an increase in refugees due to a myriad of factors in many countries. This year, I too am an outsider in a foreign country. I encounter problems with language and customs, but overall, I am vastly privileged. I have monetary support and a home waiting for me when I get back. Most of the refugees coming to Chemnitz do not. I have been exposed to many negative opinions on refugees (if you haven't researched PEGIDA, now is the time to do so) in Chemnitz, but luckily I have also met some of the most welcoming people I know. These people are constantly fighting to protect and support refugees. In Chemnitz, there are organizations aimed at providing refugees with clothes, food, shelter, and any other help they may need. As winter continues and the temperature begins to drop, it is even more important that refugees have warm clothing and food. In this holiday season, I ask that you think of those in need and donate to support refugees in Chemnitz or in your own state. Below are links about refugees in Germany and organizations that help them. Unfortunately, the material is in German, so if you have questions, please feel free to contact me.
