The picture you see is of my beautiful wife supporting me after I finished my first 1/2 Marathon back in 2013. A month later, I tore my ACL. Four years in the Marine Corps Infantry has taught me to keep my head up during hard times and to push myself through these difficult moments. My initial goal was to walk again, but I'm not one to settle for the bare minimum, so I set the bar high and set my sights on the Marine Corps Marathon!
Proceeds from this fundraiser go to Team Red White and Blue (RWB). It is an exceptional organization aimed at assisting military veterans transition from their life as a service member to life in the civilian world. I treat veterans with PTSD as a graduate student clinician at UCF: http://psychology.cos.ucf.edu/ucf-restores/clinical-research-programs/ptsd-treatment/
and my first experience with Team RWB was with two Orlando members. They helped plan and host a weekend safari for a few of the veterans I was treating. These veterans had been isolating themselves for a long time, and we could tell that they appreciated how these two RWB members went out of their way to assist them. Their kindness and generosity was inspiring, and it is a trait that I see with so many of my fellow RWB members. Donations from people like you are what aids RWB's mission to improve veterans quality of life through social and athletic events.
Please consider funding this event, and telling your friends and neighbors about it as well.
