EVENT DATE: Aug 02, 2014
Easter Seals is a fully accessible summer camp. I have been going since I was 9 years old, but unfortunately when your 18+ years old Easter Seals doen't cover the rest of the camp cost. I will be going for 16 days this summer (2014) but not without your help. Please help me get to this camp. The activities that I participate at this camp that I don't do outside of here is play sledge hockey, archery, wheelchair basketball, high ropes course, enter the talent show and go rock climbing.
Here is a brief description of the Leaders-In-Training Program :
The Leaders in Training program helps young adults develop leadership and other practical skills, which can be used throughout their lives for their own personal growth.
Each session has 8 LIT participants, who live in a cabin with other LITs and are supervised by the LIT programmer. They gain valuable leadership skills through team building activities, discussions, journals, mentoring and evaluations.
The program is both challenging and fun. The LITs live together, hang out together and participate in a special ‘out of camp’ trip together as well as participate in regular camp programs, as LITs. There are also plenty of opportunities for everyone to practice their newly developed leadership skills within the camp community.
Here's a brief description of the Gear-Up program :
GEAR-UP stands for Goals, Empowerment, Attitude, Respect, Understanding and Proud. This program offers young adults the opportunity to particpate in a fully accessible recreational program where they can make new friends, develop new skills and just have fun in a residential camp environment.
Programs in GEAR UP have been designed to allow campers the opportunity to choose what they would like to participate in. Some of the programs include archery, pottery, sledge hockey, music & drama, swimming, sailing and using the fully accessible high ropes course. Dances, karaoke nights and other activities will be planned in the evening. All programs will be geared to older teens/young adults.
Easter Seals helps families by providing them to go to camp and they also help families get the equipment for their child(ren) around the home that is essential (eg., porch lifts, stair lifts, ramps, elevators, leg braces, wheelchairs, car seats, walkers etc).
Here is my story :
I was born with Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita (AMC), Bilateral Clubfeet and a Left Dislocated Hip. Arthrogryposis is a rare congenital condition that is only seen at birth. It is characterized by many joint contratures.
Ways Your Money WIll Help :
