Help save his eye!
Organized by: Aisha fall
Hello Friends, This fundraiser is for a 17 year old boy named Cheikhouna Gueye. He is from Dakar, Senegal (West Africa) and at the age of 9 he was diagnosed with endemic limbo conjunctivitis and posterior subcapsular cataract in his right eye. He's had two surgeries on his eye one in Aug. 17th, 2010 using extracapsular cataract extraction method and posterior chamber implantation, and the second surgery was done in Dec. 27th, due to a remission of the cataracts using a posterior capsulotomy. After a follow up appointment in 2015 they discovered 2 things: his visual acuity (basically his visual clarity) was drastically reduced to only being able to perceive light and he had developed Keratoconus contact with bubbles (cornea thinned and began to bulge with bubbles). The only way his vision can be restored is with an artificial lens implanted in the cornea, which is a procedure that the hospital in Senegal is ill-equipped to perform. Therefore, the doctors in Senegal are recommending a transfer to a hospital in France (FONDATION OPHTALMOLOGIQUE ADOLPHE DE ROTHSCHILD) where it can be done. He is running out of time and will permanently lose the sight in his right eye if he is not able to make it there to get a consult with a doctor there, so they can perform this recovery surgery to restore his sight. He’s already missed his first appointment on June 4, 2015 due to his family’s inability to pay which makes it impossible for him to go. He desperately needs to get to French Hospital, and to cover all of expenses for this procedure he needs $15,000 as soon as possible, his ability to see again depends on it. PLEASE HELP SAVE CHEIKHOUNA'S EYE, we can't let money be the reason he loses an eye that can be saved.
