Help Save Our Lab

Organized by: Jason Gregg

Last year, 3 entrepeneurs pooled their resources to develop an open source community based tech lab, designed to foster the education and advancement of open source technologies to youth.

Our lab is a fully equipped tech lab and hacker-space. We have 3D printers, soldering equipment, BGA rework stations, testers & probes etc. Imagine a community based lab with everything you would need to design, develop and produce their invention or innovation.

Focusing heavily on Arduino and robotics, our aim is to bring these emerging technologies to the youth of the region in an effort to expand these industries.

That is what our lab is supposed to be. Instead it is not able to open because the funds we had allocated for a wheelchair ramp ($10,000) was part of the theft.

A 4th person was brought in as VP of Operations. This man corrupted and bankrupted the group. He took most of what we had and left town. This left us without any capital.

One of the partners has a form of macular degeneration called Stargardts. She had $30,000 saved for her eye surgery. She selflessly gave that money to our lab to cover the debt after our VP stole everything.

The lab is behind schedule, but we will not stop with our dream of having a place where youth and adults can come, meet, learn and explore technology in a positive environment.

Our fundraising is twofold. All we need is a wheelchair ramp to have the proper permitting to conduct educational classes. This will open the doors to our lab. Secondly, we beg for Melanie to have her stem cell surgery to regain her sight that she lost when she was 10yrs old.

Melanie does not know we are fundraising for her. She is much too proud and would not like the attention. It would be an amazing day for us to see her see us clearly.
